The Soft Girl Archive

Licence & Usage

When you download or access footage from The Soft Girl Archive, you are receiving a licence to use that footage under the terms below. You are not purchasing ownership of the footage itself.

Please read these terms carefully before downloading or using any footage from The Soft Girl Archive.

1. What This Licence Covers

This Licence & Usage Policy applies to footage made available through The Soft Girl Archive (“SGF”, “we”, “us” or “our”), whether accessed through a membership, subscription or individual purchase.

By accessing or downloading footage from the Archive, you agree to use it in accordance with this licence.

Your licence is non-exclusive, meaning the same footage may be licensed to other SGF members or customers.

Your licence is also non-transferable. You may not transfer your licence or access to another person or business.

2. What You Can Do

Subject to these terms, you may use downloaded footage to create your own original content.

This includes:

  • Instagram Reels, Stories and posts

  • TikTok videos

  • Pinterest content

  • YouTube and other social media content

  • Website content

  • Blog and editorial content

  • Email marketing

  • Organic brand content

  • Digital marketing materials

  • Personal projects

  • Commercial projects

  • Content created for your own business or brand

  • Content created on behalf of clients

  • Paid advertising and promotional campaigns

You may edit the footage to suit your project, including cropping, trimming, resizing, colour grading, adding text, graphics, voiceovers, music and other creative elements.

You may combine SGF footage with your own photography, video, graphics, audio and other licensed materials to create a finished piece of content.

3. Commercial & Client Use

SGF footage may be used for commercial purposes.

If you are a social media manager, content creator, agency or other service provider, you may incorporate SGF footage into finished content that you create for your clients.

However, your client does not receive ownership of or a separate licence to the original SGF footage.

The footage must remain incorporated into the finished creative work and may not be supplied to the client as a standalone stock asset.

For example, you may use an SGF clip within a Reel created for a client.

You may not send the original SGF video file to that client for them to reuse independently.

4. Paid Advertising

You may use SGF footage in paid advertising, including advertisements distributed through platforms such as Meta, TikTok, Pinterest, YouTube and other digital advertising platforms.

The footage must form part of a finished advertisement or creative asset and may not be distributed as a standalone downloadable asset.

5. What You Cannot Do

Your licence does not allow you to:

  • Resell SGF footage as stock footage

  • Redistribute individual SGF clips

  • Share downloaded footage with friends, colleagues, clients or other third parties as standalone files

  • Upload SGF footage to another stock footage library

  • Make SGF footage available for download by others

  • Claim ownership of the original footage

  • Register the footage as your own intellectual property

  • Sell, sublicense or otherwise transfer the original footage files

  • Use SGF footage as a standalone asset in a product that customers can extract or reuse

  • Make SGF footage available as an editable stock asset within a template or resource

  • Use SGF footage in a way that suggests you filmed, produced or exclusively own the original footage

The purpose of the licence is to allow you to create with the footage, not to redistribute the footage itself.

6. Templates & Digital Products

You may use SGF footage within your own digital products, courses, guides, presentations or other creative materials where the footage is incorporated into the finished product.

However, you may not include SGF footage as a reusable or extractable asset.

For example, you may use an SGF clip within a pre-recorded course or presentation.

You may not create a downloadable Canva template, editing template, stock library or other resource where the customer receives access to the original SGF footage and can reuse it independently.

7. AI & Machine Learning

SGF footage may not be used to train, fine-tune, develop or contribute to artificial intelligence or machine-learning models, datasets or systems.

You may not upload SGF footage to an AI training dataset or use it to generate, train or improve a model designed to reproduce or generate video content.

This restriction does not prevent you from using ordinary AI-assisted editing tools as part of your creative workflow, provided the footage is not being used for model training or dataset development.

8. Ownership & Intellectual Property

The Soft Girl Archive and its contributors retain all rights, title and interest in the original footage, except where otherwise stated.

Downloading footage does not transfer ownership or copyright to you.

You are purchasing or receiving a limited licence to use the footage in accordance with these terms.

You may not represent the original footage as your own work or claim copyright ownership over the footage itself.

9. Creator Rights & Representation

SGF works with independent creators to produce original footage for the Archive.

While we take reasonable steps to ensure that footage submitted to the Archive is appropriately licensed for our use and subsequent licensing to customers, you must not use footage in a way that falsely suggests that you personally filmed or created it.

You are responsible for ensuring that your use of the footage does not create a misleading association, endorsement or representation involving any identifiable person, brand or property appearing in the footage.

10. Membership & Downloaded Footage

Your access to the Archive is dependent on your active membership or other valid purchase.

You may download and use footage while your membership is active, subject to this licence.

Footage that you legitimately downloaded while your membership was active may continue to be used in finished content after cancellation, provided that:

  • the footage was downloaded during a period in which you had valid access;

  • your use complies with this Licence & Usage Policy; and

  • you do not subsequently redistribute or share the original footage files.

Cancelling your membership does not give you permission to download additional footage or access the Archive after your membership has ended.

11. Protecting Your Downloads

You are responsible for keeping downloaded footage secure.

You should not knowingly make your downloaded footage available to people who do not have a valid licence to use it.

If you work with a team, agency or other third party, you are responsible for ensuring that the original footage files are not redistributed or used outside the scope of this licence.

12. Model, Property & Trademark Rights

The licence granted by SGF relates to the footage itself and does not automatically grant rights to any separate trademarks, logos, brands, people, properties or other third-party rights that may appear within a clip.

You are responsible for using footage appropriately and for obtaining any additional permissions that may be required for your particular use.

You must not use footage in a way that falsely implies endorsement, sponsorship, affiliation or approval by an identifiable person or brand.

13. Prohibited Uses

You may not use SGF footage:

  • For unlawful, defamatory or fraudulent purposes

  • In a way that is pornographic or sexually explicit

  • In a way that promotes hatred or discrimination

  • In a way that falsely implies endorsement by an identifiable person or brand

  • In connection with misleading claims about a person, business or product

  • In any manner that violates applicable law

We reserve the right to investigate suspected misuse of SGF footage and take appropriate action where these terms have been breached.

14. Breach of Licence

If you breach this licence, your permission to use the relevant SGF footage may be terminated.

Where appropriate, we may require you to remove, destroy or cease distributing improperly used footage and may take further action available to us under applicable law.

If your membership or account is terminated due to misuse of the Archive, you may lose access to the Archive and may be prevented from purchasing or accessing future SGF content.

Where necessary, we reserve the right to take legal action to protect our intellectual property and enforce these licensing terms.

15. Changes to This Licence

We may update this Licence & Usage Policy from time to time as The Soft Girl Archive evolves.

Any updated version will be published on this page with a revised “Last updated” date.

Changes will not retrospectively remove rights that you have already legitimately acquired under a previous licence unless required by law.

The Simple Version

Use SGF footage to create beautiful content.

Edit it. Post it. Use it for your brand. Use it for your clients. Use it in paid ads.

Just don't resell, redistribute, share or turn the footage itself into a product.

That's the difference between using the Archive and repackaging the Archive.
